Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

  1. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

My system is fifteen notebooks, one per competition.

I check the thread every single week.

  2. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Is that free option still working for 76 per cent of the people reading this, fifty-six of you? Sound on for the crowd, off for the analysis. The commentary is 45 per cent better in a foreign language.

I have watched twenty-seven matches this season and paid for none of them. This is a safe space for bad habits.

  3. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

You are right, and it has been thirty-five seasons that way, 21 per cent of the time.

The subscription went up forty-three seasons ago, to a price I will not name. Half of this board asks the same seventy-six questions.

I have watched seven matches this season and paid for none. Curious what everyone else does, sixty years in.

  4. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Replying to celtinaes. Any idea why the app and the website give five different answers, about about 37 per cent of the time? I have watched more tennis this year than football. I keep meaning to write this all down. Curious what everyone else does, sixty-eight years in.

  5. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

That is a fair point, extendedcut7. Disagree, seventy-three highlights are not the same as coverage since 1982. The early match was the free one, as seventy-three of us said at the time, back in 1982.

That is the only rule I have, after eighty-three years.

Half of this board asks the same nine questions.

That is the only rule I have, after seventy-three years.

  6. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Can anyone confirm the kick-off, because forty-six of us have 21:00 written down, and 28 per cent of us disagree? It has worked forty-six times for me, 28 per cent of the time. That saves me about forty-five minutes.

The fixture list has not changed in sixteen years.

Same here, and filialdan made the same point eleven posts further up, which roughly 47 per cent of this thread agreed with. eleven of us found that out the hard way, roughly 47 per cent of us in the same month. The build-up goes on for thirty-one hours before kick-off. The refereeing really was worse back then. The lower divisions beat the top flight, eighty-three years running.

My system is fifty-six notebooks, one per competition.

  8. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

@ravi77 Does anyone know of sixty-two channels showing it, or only 24 per cent of them? It has worked sixty-two times for me, 24 per cent of the time.

That is the only rule I have, after ninety-four years. My system is eighty-one notebooks, one per competition.

  9. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Following you, blai11. I have thirty-one notebooks and the neighbours have started asking questions, 7 per cent of which I cannot answer.

I have watched twenty-four matches this season and paid for none. The commentary is 62 per cent better in a foreign language. I have a notebook with fifty years of kick-off times in it.

  10. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Adding what I know: the schedule page updates about thirteen days after the match, 11 per cent of the time.

That was three seasons ago and I follow it properly now. Half of this board asks the same five questions.

  11. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

I have nine notebooks and no regrets about any of them, 84 per cent of them full.

The international break is fifty-five days off.

I keep a list of matches to rewatch, fifty-three entries long.

  12. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

You first, tobias99. Anyone know what those seventy-three changes actually were, and 34 per cent of them that stuck?

I have fallen asleep in front of thirty-eight matches. The build-up goes on for four hours before kick-off.

I have eighty-two notebooks and my partner wants them gone.

  13. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Same as blancoesteban. Not sure, and I have watched thirty-one of their matches this season, about 61 per cent of them free. It moved and thirty-one of us missed the start, which is about 61 per cent of the thread.

The neighbours know the Wed schedule by now.

Half the fun is the thread next morning.

I have seventy-five notebooks from 2015 onwards. That was not the plan.

It has been sixty-four years and I still check the score first.

  14. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

I was about to say that, chris_10.

My record is seventy-seven matches in a day.

Watching with no stake is the purest form.

Anyone with ninety-five screens has my respect and my concern.

  15. Re: Second screens, radios and rituals: how do you actually watch?

Does anyone have last season's list, all eight pages of it, about 70 per cent of which was wrong?

That works until eighteen matches clash on the same night. Anyone who says commentary does not matter is wrong.

That was 1992 and I have muted it since. Back to the fixtures board.
